Jake Rodgers

So, it finally took 2 year to get me to post something new on here. Please read and pray.

Jake Rodgers, 17, from Windber, PA was in an ATV accident two weeks ago and is in critical condition. He was one of the first kids to get involved in crucified's ministries, and was one of the first people that accepted Christ as well. He has grown over the past two years to be part of our family, even taking over my old bedroom at time. He is also one of the kids my brother has been discipling one on one since Jake really has a passion to grow in Christ even more. The accident caused extensive facial damage. His first surgery was to get a trach instead of being intubated. Then, about a week after the accident, the doctors gave him a metal septum and cheek bones. All was going well. He was moved out of the icu for an evening.
Unfortunately, Jake developed an infection due to the trach and an artery burst causing extensive blood loss through his trach. He was taken into immediate surgery to clamp off the artery and stop the bleeding. The next day, he started a fever of 103. His fever has gone back down, but they found liquid accumulating behind his heart, so they took him in for another surgery. The doctors now have said that the next 24-48 are crucial, and have started calling other hospitals, such as Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh looking for ideas since they don't know what else to do.
Please pray for Jake and his family, and all our other skaters from the ministry. Jake's family has seen drastic changes through our ministry and is opening up to Christ. Please pray that whatever happens, they will continue to draw closer to Christ and accept Him as savior. Also, please pray for strength and comfort for Jake's family and friends, who have been keeping rotations going with multiple people at the hospital 24/7.

so im sitting in chuck's right now...eating breakfast, listening to U2 and Transiberian orchestra, studying for finals, and watching the sun rise.
nothing all the amazing was expected of this meal and study time.  but i have realized some things sitting here.
(1)i am going to fail my final.  and this is long overdue.  i don't deserve to pass it.  it's my own fault, and i've gotten by without putting forth any effort for way too long.  so now i think its time i am truly humbled, which sucks, but ill survive, which leads me to my second point,
(2) even when the day starts out dull, dreary, and bleak, as today did, the sunrise can make it all better and truly display God's majesty.  I haven't seen a sunrise is ages.  It really is a magnificent thing to see all the darkness fade and the beauty and color rise on the horizon.

on another note:
this is my last year.  im going to miss people.  i went to johnstown school district with my friends for like 13 years, then graduated and didn't look back or really miss any of them.  now i've known these friends for 4 years and will deeply miss each of them. Four years ago I knew no one here.  Now I have my closest friends I have ever had sans my brother Josh.  I don't want us to all split up, but I know that is what is coming next.  For example, next semester two of my friends will have graduated and left, and three more will be overseas doing student teaching.  I will miss them all.
To all my friends from Cedarville.  You have changed my life more than you can ever imagine.  I would try to list you all individually, but that is simply not possible, so instead just take this as true:
You are family.  You have molded me into who I am and who I will become. Thank you.

Love,
Travis

sorry for the delay.

yesterday...
JT began accepting and digesting food.
He also was having the seizures a lot more, so they are going to do another test to try and figure out whats going on as well as keeping him on seizure medication.
He also yawned a couple times

Overall, still a little improvement, so lets hope he keeps it up.  A little more everyday.
